Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions - The Outlook Riding Academy:

Policies and Bylaws:

Our operating standards strictly adhere to the guidelines set forth by Equestrian Australia and Australian Horse-Riding Centres.

Safety Standards:

All individuals entering The Outlook Riding Academy premises, whether as riders or non-riders, must comply with the current approved safety standards. This includes the mandatory use of appropriate helmets during horse riding activities.

Dangerous Recreational Activity Warning:

The Outlook Riding Academy advises and the participant acknowledges that horse riding is a dangerous recreational activity that involves a significant risk of harm, including injury and death. The participant explicitly acknowledges that they ride at their own risk.

Rider Safety and Conduct:

(a) All participants must conduct themselves with consideration and respect for fellow participants.

(b) A professional level of conduct, in keeping with industry standards, must be maintained at all times.

(c) All ridden horses must be appropriately bridled.

(d) Participants are not allowed to ride a horse unless wearing appropriate riding boots.

(e) All ridden horses must wear a saddle of an approved type that does not include jockey or training pads or short stirrups.

(f) Participants shall not ride a horse unless they are wearing a properly fitted helmet that provides an adequate level of protection against physical trauma to the head.

(i) Helmets that comply with AS/NZS 3838, EN 1384, or ASTM F1163 and are less than five years old from the date of manufacture are considered to provide an adequate level of protection to the wearer in all circumstances.

(ii) Helmets that have experienced significant impacts (e.g., where the strength and integrity of the shell is likely to have been compromised) or have been structurally damaged must not be used.

(iii) The chinstrap must be attached and used at all times.

Horse Riding Risk Acknowledgment - The Outlook Riding Academy:

The rider acknowledges that horse riding is inherently dangerous, and horses possess individual natures and temperaments. Recognizing the unpredictable behavior of horses, especially when frightened, hurt, or mistreated, the rider accepts the inherent risks associated with riding, such as quickening pace and unpredictable movements.

While an approved helmet will be provided, the rider acknowledges that no helmet can guarantee protection against all possible impacts. In light of these inherent risks, the rider accepts that The Outlook Riding Academy, its owners, agents, and employees, bear no liability for any accidents, damages, injuries to the rider, spectators, or any other individuals or property.

Riders also acknowledge that The Outlook Riding Academy disclaims liability for accidents or injuries resulting from not wearing an approved helmet or incorrectly fastening the retention system, as per the manufacturer's instructions.

The rider is aware of normal risks, including collisions and falls, and acknowledges the availability of first aid treatment. The Outlook Riding Academy will arrange for medical treatment in urgent circumstances, ensuring prompt attention if required.

The Outlook Riding Academy relies on information provided by riders or guardians regarding age, weight, riding experience, and physical/mental capability to match horses and riders. The rider assumes primary control of the horse upon mounting and agrees to follow instructions appropriate to their assessed capability.

The Outlook Riding Academy reserves the right to refuse participation based on disclosed impairments. No warranty is provided regarding the nature, habits, or disposition of supplied horses.

The rider accepts full responsibility for controlling and ensuring the safety of the assigned horse, committing to riding in a safe and controlled manner. Jumping is prohibited.

The rider must not exchange horses with others or permit doubling. Responsible adjustment of harnesses, saddles, and helmets is the rider's duty. Accidents, injuries, property damage, or equipment loss must be reported to The Outlook Riding Academy before leaving, or in writing within 14 days if immediate reporting is not possible. Claims must be made within 12 months.

Compliance with directional signs, instructions by The Outlook Riding Academy representatives, and adherence to the outlined conditions is mandatory. Non-compliance, misconduct, or hazardous riding may result in ride cancellation without refund.

The Outlook Riding Academy reserves the right to reject this application without providing a reason.

No Dogs Policy:

For the safety and well-being of our riders, non-riders, and horses, no dogs or other pets are allowed on the premises.

Fee Payment:

All fees, whether for riding or other activities, must be settled in full before the commencement of any activity.

By making a booking through our website, social media platforms, phone, or any other contact forms, you agree to abide by our cancellation policy. Please refer to our cancellation policy for detailed information.

Wet Weather Policy:

In the event of inclement weather, The Outlook Riding Academy may, at its discretion, conduct theory lessons undercover. Alternatively, riders will be notified of cancellations and issued a credit for future use.

Service Reservation and Refusal:

The Outlook Riding Academy reserves the right to cancel or refuse service at any time if there is a perceived risk to the safety of either the horse or rider.

Riding Conditions:

Riders are not permitted to ride alone; there must be an instructor on the ground or a horse accompanying them at all times.

Assessment Criteria:

Riders will be assessed based on height-to-weight ratio, riding experience, muscle tone, and fitness to determine the suitability of a horse.

Advance Booking and Horse Availability:

The Outlook Riding Academy cannot guarantee the availability of a suitable horse on the day of your visit if you haven't booked in advance and provided detailed information.

Apparel and Safety Gear:

All riders must wear appropriate clothing, enclosed shoes, and helmets. Tops should cover shoulders and stomach for safety. Helmets are available for lending during rides.
